Overview

For those who think that light fighters aren't worth using, a few hours throwing one of these beauties about will quickly change their minds. Jostles with the Eagle Mk 3 for the title of King of the Light Fighters, the Osprey X is a big, BIG upgrade on it's predecessor Osprey Attack Fighter, whilst retaining almost all of the former's strengths.

Notable Features

Ridiculously, despite being over double the size, the Osprey X is actually faster than the Osprey, with a blistering 29.2G forward acceleration. It manages this whilst being large enough to take four missiles (important for a small craft) and enough space for a few goodies. As far as light fighters go, the Empire doesn't build 'em better.

Disadvantages

In pure size, this still falls well below even the smaller medium fighters, and as a newish craft, it can be somewhat difficult to find. It's also not a particularly long-range craft, which can make it somewhat frustrating to use in sparsely populated areas of space.

Verdict

These high-performance craft represent some of the best in spacecraft design, and is an absolute pleasure to fly. Although it is unlikely that a spacer will finish their career in this craft[1] it will certainly be remembered as an exhilarating and enjoyable period in command of a powerful and tough craft.

[1] At least, on their own terms.
