External Heat Shielding

This is a coating applied to the hull to give protection from frictional atmospheric heating. It is most useful for those who regularly use their Fuel Scoops to collect fuel from suns, as it significantly increases the amount of time a ship can survive close to the sun, and may be essential for slower ships.

It costs 1,500 Cr. and is available at Tech Level 5 or higher.
