The Navy Medical Ship performs two essential duties in the Galactic Navy. Its primary role is battle-zone search and rescue. Many a pilot owes his life to these daring craft and their brave crews. While the Uniform Code of Navy Justice makes attack on any navy vessel an offense punishable by destruction, attacking a Medical Ship is viewed as particularly heinous. Unfortunately, Thargoids do not share our morality, and several search and rescue crews have lost their lives.
As a secondary role, the Navy Medical Ship also operates as an emergency medical transport. Navy personnel with injuries too serious to treat at the front are quickly transferred via Medical Ship to the nearest friendly planetary system for expert medical care.
Notable Features
Navy Medical Ships are re-fitted Moray Medical Boats. In addition to the usual naval upgrades, they are also outfitted with the latest emergency medical technology, including the premier range of cryo-suspension systems, auto-docs and drug synthesisers. These ships are capable of scooping escape pods as well as docking directly with damaged ships via soft seal technology. To further facilitate access to badly damaged ships, the interior of the docking ring sports a high precision plasma cutter which can rip though even the toughest and most resilient hull to allow access to the interior.
