This is Norby's personal systematization of OXPs which was planned to more general usage but rejected in the OXP Collection topic. Please handle it as an individual, non-official recommendation only. Last update of OXP Collection list: 2013-11-09.

Overview
Contain about 2 GB data from more than 500 OXPs in the following folder structure:
Basic.oxp: polishments for the core game, tutorials and libraries.
Griff.oxp: replace original ship models with beautiful ones.
Helper.oxp: give many (too many?) advantages to the player.
HighShip.oxp: additional high resolution player ships.
Lookout.oxp: give better ambient graphics and sounds.
Mission.oxp: more todo for players with some experience.
Music.oxp: musicpacks what you can listen during game.
Powerup.oxp: more durable NPCs, new challenges for competent pilots.
Ship.oxp: various ships, can be far from the original in power and lookout.
Shipset.oxp: more variants from the original ships (optional).
Station.oxp: increase your trading and other possibilities.

Shipset.oxp
Addition (non-replacement) shipsets which make more variants from the original ships with different lookouts but without aiming to change ship parameters.
Contain the No Shaders ShipSet from Griff, shaded versions pulled out to the Griff.oxp package.
DeepspaceShip OXP contain a new font, but currently in neutralized state. To turn it on remove the "-" from the end of the filename DeepspaceShip.oxp/Config/oolite-font.plist- .
DeepspaceShip, Neolite and Shady Sungs buoys and stations are removed from the default rules in shipdata.plists due to addition shipsets should not replace default buoys and stations.

If you use a replacement shipset from Griff or Smivs then you must make a change in ToughGuys OXP which is described in the TG4-readme.txt in ToughGuys folder.
If you rename shipdata.plistforcustomshipsets to shipdata.plist in the Config folder of HardShips OXP then you get the hard versions of replacement ships.
