"Elite" ([E']leet, both noun and adjective) generally means the elect, those selected as the outstanding or most skilled members of a group.

Etymology

French élite, from Old French eslite, from feminine of eslit, past participle of eslire to choose, from Latin eligere.

  • Classic Elite - A highly innovative cult computer game from 1984 of unprecedented atmosphere and complexity
  • Elite Rating - The most distinguished honour attainable in aforementioned game, based on the corresponding rank in the fictional Elite universe
