Seldar Shipyards, creators of the critically acclaimed reproductions of the Imperial Courier and the Eagle Mk. II, stepped up to design the NjX model Cobra Mk. III. The NjX (which stands for NaJa eXperimental) is a hull rebuild package that provides improved performance at the cost of cargo space.

The entire front end of the ship has been redesigned, incorporating a new nose section with integrated escape pod, bridge and living area all in the forward hull. The rear hull contains the cargo area and the redeveloped engineering area.

Seldar used technology that they created with the Courier remake to replace the Cobra's Irrikan Thru-Space and Kruger Lightfast drives, instead mounting an SV-Dinamec WitchThrust Dual drive. This system which features ventrally mounted emitter coils, subsurface manoeuvring thrusters and integrated fuel injection increases the engine output substantially while maintaining a respectable mount of internal cargo storage. As ever, Seldar's pioneer spirit shows through with the standard fitting of a fuel scoop, allowing the pilot to travel vast distances before requiring to dock at a station.

Variants

Following their acquisition of a licence to manufacture NjX-type Cobra III's, Seldar branched out selling a 'Blue Edition' equipped with a forward Beam Laser, a 'Red Edition' which featured souped-up engines and a Military Laser and a specific build entirely for the military forces of planetary systems, though examples of this model turn up in the second-hand military surplus markets.
