Overview

Fuelscoops are considered an essential for Deep Space, and dangerous zone trading. They have a standardised design, and a standard fitment. They use powerfull electro-magnetic fields to guide the solar wind into their ReQax convertors, they may also be used to pick up small miscellaneous space debris.

Use

  • Scooping fuel 'skimming'To scoop fuel from a star's corona. First make sure to have Witchdrive Fuel Injectors or be prepared to hyperspace out. Secondly make sure the sun is not too hot (this will take some practice). Head for the star. Fly at top speed as you'll want to get out again as soon as possible. Close to the sun, your cabin temperature will start to rise, once it reaches the top of the gauge, the lifesupport systems will fail and you will die a horrible, agonising death. That aside, once your scoops auto-initialise, level out your flight to just above the coronal'horizon'.When your tank is full, get out by hyperspacing or using fuelinjectors directly AWAY from the sun. Be sure to get expert advice from a veteran copilot as far too many young Jamesons die a fiery death.
  • Scooping debris 'feeding'Once fuelscoops are installed you can scoop up an object (such as a cargo cannister) by keeping it in the lower part of the viewscreen while flying right up to it. Some vessels have off-centre viewer possitions and require some additional practice.

Almost all pirate vessels are fitted with these so that they can blast their prey apart and sift among the wreckage, rather than attempt to dock with a hostile craft.
