Overview
This expansion pack adds 8 ships to the Universe.
Bushmaster Miner (ArcElite)
Cat/Cougar (Elite2)
Chameleon (EliteA)
Ghavial (EliteA)
Iguana (EliteA)
Monitor (EliteA)
Ophidian (EliteA)
Salamander* (EliteA)
Only the Bushmaster is an NPC only, due to the Miner's Guild restrictions preventing 'just anybody' from flying it. *Salamander is, from what I've been able to find, a 'myth-name'.
The models are either taken by eye-measurement via the great collection of ships by John Mackay at http://mackayj.doosh.net/, or in the case of the EliteA ships, true to the original given coordinates.
The original designs are, from what I can tell, by Warren Burch & Clive Gingras for the Bushmaster, by Ian Bell for the Cat/Cougar, and the rest by Angus Duggan,
The OXP was written by Murgh.

(old oosat link, outdated v 3.0)
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you use the Neolite Companion OXP, then you should not use this OXP as the Neolite one replaces this.
Alternative Textures
Neolite Companion OXP contains new versions of these ships, which replace this OXP. It is incompatible with this OXP, so you should not use both.
Old Ships 2010 OXP is a retextured version of Old Ships, made by P.A.Groove. This is compatible with Neolite and the original.
Difficulty Rating
"Medium" This OXP adds 8 new ships, most the ships added are within the power-range of the Classic Elite Ships with most profound exception the Iguana. The Iguana carries a twin laser and it is extremely dangerous as a pirate. This OXP is a SHIPS OXP. Install it and everyone can fly these ships, the Player and NPCs alike.
Installing and Playing
To play the OXP, unzip the download file. This will create a folder named "oldships.oxp" and a readme.Move the "oldships.oxp" folder to AddOns. As with all OXPs, its the folder ending .oxp that you need to put in Oolite's AddOns folder, otherwise Oolite will not read it.
Permission to update Murgh's .oxp's
...of course you may feel totally free to update any of the old OXPs or otherwise make use of the old scraps if they can still hold appeal. It would be very cool for me if something from so long ago could even in a small part manage to survive through the ages, along with the simple and brilliant concept of Oolite... |
