History
Very little is known about the origin of this ship. Most likely the design came from the mysterious Empire in the unknown regions Benulobiweed Inc. had business with. However, the company producing the first models is long forgotten, it might have been an enthusiastic subcontractor. After some major problems were discovered when the first slot of 100 ships was delivered from the shipyard the name was quickly changed to Lambda Freighter.
Remarks
I did try to include this ship in existing lore while at the same time creating a connection with other Lambda ships to follow. Except the known issues listed below this is still a fine OXP. All thanks to Azzameen (original) and Charlie (storyline).
Known Issues
- The Lambda Shuttle is too big for standard docking ports, so docking and launching by NPCs will look buggy. Future Oolite versions (beyond 1.74.2) will make it impossible for such ships to dock or launch from a standard station.
- The Lambda Shuttle specifies an obsolete shuttle AI which creates error entries in Oolite's log. Functionality is not affected though.
Download
The Lambda Shuttle is found in the Star Wars Ships OXP.
Another version of it is found in the Imperial Star Destroyer OXP.
Both are downloadable though the in-game Expansions Manager.
