Description
This class of starship are constructed by The GalTech Industries Corporation exclusively for Starfleet and are designed to combine both long range exploration with a substantial military capability. Due to the exclusivity deal in place with Starfleet and the huge production cost these vessels are not available to any organisation other than Starfleet nor are they available as player ships.

Standard Equipment
Forward military laser.
Rear military laser.
ECM.
Shield Booster.
Fuel Injection.
Shield Enhancer.
Energy Unit.
6 Escape Pods
Fuel Scoops

Ship Variants
The ship is available as an npc ship only. These vessel’s primary role is exploration and therefore they are typically encountered investigating systems. Their remit does not include the enforcement of local or galactic law and hence they will not attack other vessels except in self defense

Minimum Requirements
This OXP requires the BigShips OXP produced by Thargoid and Eric Walch to also be installed (A copy is included in the OXP download for convenience). The OXP has been developed for Oolite V1.76 however it should also be upward compatible with future releases.

Installation
Unzip the file, and then move the folder "Constitution Class Heavy Cruiser - V1.00.oxp" to the AddOns directory of your Oolite installation. Then start the game up and the ship should be added.
Description
The Colonial Viper Mark 1, produced by The GalTech Industries Corporation, is a one man fighter designed specifically for ship to ship combat. Its combination of small size, speed and manoeuvrability make it an ideal choice for a carrier or station based fighter but it is also able to provide a more general defence and escort role.

The lack of cargo carrying capacity or fuel scopes makes it, however, an unattractive ship choice for pirates and for this reason they are only rarely found amongst pirate groups.

Standard Equipment
Forward pulse laser

Ship Variants
The ship is available in player, escort, hunter, police, wingman and pirate roles. The basic player version is equipped with a pulse laser while all other roles are equipped with a beam laser. All other specifications are the same.

Minimum Requirements
The OXP was designed to work on Oolite 1.76 but should also be backward compatible. No additional OXPs are required to be installed in order this OXP to run.

Installation
Unzip the file, and then move the folder "Colonial Viper Mark 1 - V1.02.oxp" to the AddOns directory of your Oolite installation. Then start the game up and the ships should be added.
About Shipbuilder
Shipbuilder is a relative newcomer to Oolite who joined the forum in May 2012. Having played the original Elite on a BBC model B during the 1980s he believes that Oolite has recreated and improved on the original. The concept of an open ended 'do whatever you want' style of game where the player is but a very small part rather than the central point of what is going on around them is key to the addictive nature of the game. It is however the intentional expandability of Oolite where anyone with a little time and effort can contribute to producing expansion packs, (OXPs), of a multitude of natures that really interests him.

With this in mind and his longstanding interest in spacecraft Shipbuilder has tasked himself with developing and releasing a series of ships both from TV and of original design.

The long term objectives are twofold. Firstly to release craft of varying styles, sizes and types to suit all interests and secondly to ensure that any ships issued are to be produced to the best of his current abilities. The focus will therefore be on quality of ships rather than quantity.

The GalTech Industries Corporation
In an attempt to gain a foothold in the shipbuilding industry a small but high tech shipyard was constructed in the rich industrial system of Ceesxe located centrally in Galaxy 1. Following the successful, and some say suspicious, negotiation of a number of military contracts and the acquisition of competing shipyards in the nearby systems of Gerete and Edle both the size and capability of the company greatly increased to what is now known as The GalTech Industries Corporation.
The so-called "Free Trade Zones" exist in Multi-Government systems. They are located within mined-out Rock Hermits, dragged beyond the witchpoint beacon, where various morally dyslexic ship captains can trade outside the official, GalCop-protected, network. There are some bargains to be found – as you might expect, given how most of the goods are acquired – but quantities are often low and there are often unscrupulous individuals in the area. It's really a buyer's market, unless you find it awkward to go near main stations. Fuel and basic equipment are available, at a premium. Their out-of-the-way location can make FTZs hard to find, but they are marked as "Z" on the Advanced Space Compass.

Free Trade Zones exist because of the highly complex legal nature of Multi-Government planets, their collective paranoia over perceived sovereignty infringements by GalCop, and their general inability to make collective decisions. Although FTZs are recognised as nation states by the planetary authorities, GalCop currently regard those who visit these stations as (minor) Offenders, and will garnish your legal status accordingly. As part of the deal with GalCop, the FTZs are obliged to provide information on all who enter and leave. Despite persistent GalCop requests, however, they still refuse to give details of those ships' cargo manifests, citing "commercial confidentiality".
Overview
Rock hermit is a generic name for an asteroid that has been hollowed out for the express purpose of accommodation. This practice began in the early days of asteroid mining by prospectors looking for a cheap place to base their operations. Today, rock hermits are frequently occupied by retired bountyhunters and pirates seeking protection from the law.

Notable Features
Usually small traders are welcome to trade, swap gossip or to get robbed. Often Rock Hermits are home to shady affairs so narcotics can be obtained here at a low price. Food and luxuries are the stuff a hermit cannot produce, so these will go at a premium. Assure you get paid before you offload your fine Ineran Brandy though!
Do not let the unglamorous name fool you: rock hermits are not defenceless. Most have a small fleet of ships ready to be launched.

Docking with a Hermit
Insofar as docking with a GalCop station is a similar exercise, Rock Hermits do not rotate. Commanders should be aware however the standard dimensions of a hermit docking port as set down in the Hermit Almanac (see below), is a relatively narrow 138 x 138 x 330 (WxHxL). Given the standard hexagonal design. A tilted roll angle, keeping your wing tips to the corners is probably the best landing option for ships with a wide beam.

Famous Anecdotes
Xiibli Nbilibli: The legendary Blue Slimy Frog whose 'ColdCrushCorp' mining concern based in Eszara spanned Galaxy Two.

It is alleged that 'ColdCrushCorp' was the front for a massive smuggling ring. Xiibli was said to be the richest amphibian since the 'great marauder' Bloxfod Agriblad of Biabite. After 37 years of complete monopoly the 'ColdCrushCorp' was plunged into a financial scandal. The subsequent investigation promised to uncover corruption that went to the very top of GalCop. However the star witness Mau-Mau Mau-Mau, a feline from Soinuste (Chief accountant of Plyforth/Garand/Plyforth), mysteriously disappeared just hours before he was to take the stand. With Its reputation in ruins and a now hawk-like eye on its dealings from GalCop special anti-corruption department, 'ColdCrushCorp' was broken up into many smaller companies (who were greedily bought by ColdCrushCorp's previously intimidated rivals). Xiibli disappeared and many rumours circulated in dark corners of Corolis taverns about Xiibli having Hyper-spaced to Galaxy 4 to start a new empire of space junk yards. In fact the truth has only very recently been revealed that Xiibli had had a full body transplant and lived out his days as rock hermit dealing in gemstones & precious metals in the Atzaxe system until he was assassinated by Zau-Mau Mau-Mau the brother of Mau-Mau Mau-Mau. A posthumous DNA test revealed his identity. In excess of 100 tonnes of Gold was found hidden in the caves of his asteroid.

The Hermit Almanac
Weighing in at a hefty 14,000 pages, it is said that the hand bound pages of Red Chaldo's The Hermit Almanac were responsible in part for the deforestation of Lave.

Covering such diverse topics as GalCop Asteroid excavation regulations (40 chapters) to the finer points of Galactic Brandy tippling. The Almanac will be found in any serious Rock Hermit's quarry. Antique hand-scribed versions (like the one shown) have been known to change hands for over 100,000 Cr. One particularly famous copy (said to have belonged to Chromebeard) was used as stake collateral aboard FurCorp heiress Magda DeMug's own CoachWhip liner in a no holds barred poker game.

Notes On Other Versions
Rock Hermits appear in many other versions of Elite, and in some they release ships if fired upon (such as Spectrum Elite), while in Archimedes Elite they can be 'mined' (without releasing mineral fragments) for a value of 2cr - however, this does earn you a black mark on your legal status, and as such is frowned upon by the police.

Introduction
Trading goods between worlds is an extremely dangerous and hard job. Many trading companies lose ships through accidents, pirate ambushes and thargoid attacks. In 2084003 GCT (Galactic Coordinated Time) / 3135 MGMT (Modern Galactic Mean Time) a number of traders’ guilds decided to counteract to the increasing number of accidents by establishing the space buoys as a marker for safe space lanes.

Unfortunately individual systems are slow to replace destroyed navigation buoys left under their own jurisdiction. This can be very frustrating for pilots. For example a commander at the main station who has to meet a ship on the way to the witchpoint, will find this almost impossible when the witchpoint buoy has been destroyed.

The authors of the GRS BuoyRepair OXP (Cmdrs. Walch and Svengali) investigated the causes behind the slow replacement of bouys and found a systemwide shortage. Bringing in a new buoy from far away and installing it took so much time that in most cases the pilot reporting the destroyed bouy was already in another system when its replacement arrived.

Buoy Factories
Walch and Svengali found that Industrial systems with a medium tech level were prepared to build buoys for a reasonable price. Low tech level systems didn’t have
the skills to build the buoys, while high tech level systems considered the work to be beneath them. The availability of metal ore in the system was also a factor in selecting suitable production sites. Alloys for the construction of the bouys had to be readily available in the system. The buoys themselves are not strong enough to lift off a planet’s surface, so they have to be assembled in space.

Cmdr. Svengali designed a factory assembly station for assembling the buoys. Parts are pre-fabricated on the planet surface and are then flown to the assembly station in shuttles. These factories are in a constant need of alloys and will also buy alloys flown in from other systems.

The assembly stations have technologically advanced docking bay sealing: A force-field that keeps the air inside while allowing ships to pass trough. This makes it possible to load or unload ships with normal clothing instead of using pressurised suits. The disadvantage to this form of docking is that approaching pilots have no clear view of the landing bay and have to use special guiding technology to find the right flight path. Vehicles equipped with a docking computer are able to lock onto the assembly station's guidance beacon in the same way thry would with any orbital docking station.

Buoy Transport vehicles
Buoys are approximately the same size as a medium ship like a Cobra. This means they won’t fit in the cargo bay of most normal ships. Walch and Svengali realised a specialised spaceship carrier would be required to transport them. A craft large enough to carry the bouys in a hold was rejected as too expensive, with the authors opting instead for the lower-cost solution of towing the buoys. Cmdr. Svengali designed the Armadillo for this role: a powerful tugship capable of delivering the buoys to their positions at a reasonable speed.

Distribution System
In order to speed the process of delivering replacement bouys on demand, Cmdr. Walch designed the GRS Distribution System to send newly-assembled buoys from the factory to other systems before they are actually needed. Once docked in another system, the replacement buoys are safely stored in the main stations. This means that when a buoy gets destroyed, a new one can be brought into place from a nearby store, arriving much more quickly than a replacement brought from another system would.

If the main station buoy needs to be replaced, a new one can be retrieved directly from the station in almost no time. If a witchpoint beacon is destroyed a new one can be quickly brought in by hyperspace by a tug jumping in with a buoy from an adjacent system.

Large Traders and fuel ships
Each GRS station has facilities to accommodate large traders that are too big to dock at a regular station. These large ships can dock at one of the two external docking bays, passing goods on to normal sized trader vessels which can deliver goods directly to the local main station or to a station in an adjacent system. GRS has also built some large fuel ships which scoop plasma from nearby stars, transform it into quirium and deliver this fuel to the GRS station. In this way each GRS station can also be used as a refuelling stop by any visiting trader.

Installation
Download the file "buoyRepair1.3.2.oxp" and put it in Oolite’s AddOns folder. After a restart the new factories are in place and the distribution of the replacement buoys will start. Now, when a buoy gets damaged, a replacement sequence is started within 2 minutes. Sometimes replacement takes longer when traffic around stations is too busy. This is dependent on the local station manager’s ability to schedule dockings and launches.

Version requirement
OXPConfig-small
* The latest version of this OXP needs Oolite 1.75.1 (or higher) to work.
* It is compatible with OXPConfig2.
* No dependencies, but if Transports or Aquatics is installed, some ships will be used.
Overview
The vast and imposing structure of this station marks with authority the fact that the Order of the Black Monks of Saint Herod are firmly established in the space lanes of the most advanced systems. The massive structure is at once home and place of business for countless thousands of holy brothers and lay servants, while it is a rare person that sees anything more than the austere and spartanly furnished offices where the Monks conduct their first and foremost business, that of loaning money.

By the late 30th Century the number of companies offering to consolidate debts in one easy loan had reached such unprecedented levels that most of the population of GalCop space was in debt. In the 2976 – 77 financial year, interest rates were increased twelve times, resulting in widespread bankruptcy.

In response GalCop passed the Consumer Credit (Holy Orders) Act 2978, outlawing the loaning of money by any organisation save the religious. The theory being that those with a spiritual conscience would never exploit Commanders in dire need of Credits. Following the passage of the legislation, the number of bankers taking Holy Orders increased by 20,000%. Today the Order of the Black Monks routinely doles out billions of credits worth of loans and receives almost ten times that amount in repayments each working day.

The Bank of the Black Monks
The Order follows a religious tenet that being solvent is a heinous sin and only the righteous walk the Path of Debt, thus all of their members are also Blessedly Insolvent. A normally cloistered order, they have opened their doors to the space-going populace in an attempt to entice others into the Holy and Exalted State of Debt. Any Commander may dock with the Monastery and, after being ushered through long, echoing hallways into the Grand Nave of Saint Herod the Bankrupt. Here they are offered a substantial loan, regardless of their financial state, with the proviso that they repay the loan with vastly inflated interest within a set time period. Failure to repay the loan within that time may result in the Commander being pursued by one of the Order's fearsome Black Monk Gunships. This alone is more than enough incentive for most to return within their alloted time and pay their debts and return to their sinful ways of financial security.

Many a distraught Commander has tried to take out his frustration at his failing fortunes by attacking Monasteries, to their own loss. Quite beside the fact that the stations are defended by Gunships, they are also equipped with 'The Holy Cannons of Defence', overcharged Plasma Cannons that are powered directly from the station's primary power core to give a weapon yield more than triple that of the standard Plasma Cannon seen on such vessels as Behemoths and Leviathans. Attempting to attack a Monastery is usually an indication of a suicidal nature.

Bertilak La Verde was a human colonial, born into a wealthy old family on the rich industrial corporate world of Quandixe. Although expected to assume a position in the family company after his education, this exceptionally intelligent and gifted young man had his own ideas… his interests lay in history and exploration, not fiscal reports and accountancy. On the day of his graduation at Quandixe’s finest university he disappeared, along with a substantial sum from the family coffers, and took to the spacelanes in an old Cobra MkIII. After only a few years he had traded his way to financial security, and fought his way to Elite rank.

For decades he roamed the 'lanes and backwaters of the Eight, all the while immersing himself ever more deeply in ancient Terran history, both real and mythical. One fine day, whilst meandering around the Steel Halo, an isolated and somewhat troubled sector in the north-east corner of the fifth chart, he suffered a misjump between Zaenza and Lazaso, and found himself surrounded by Thargoid warships. No stranger to the exigencies of interstellar space, he dispatched them after a short firefight, and still having plenty of quirium fuel, was about to continue on his way when he spotted something way off in the distance… a beautiful blue gas giant. He set off to investigate, but was soon dodging and weaving through hundreds of asteroid swarms… asteroid swarms that turned out to contain a high percentage of what are known as 'treasuroids'… near-mythical 'roids rich in gemstones and rare metals.

Quietly and methodically, Bertilak La Verde took full advantage of his good fortune, and was soon an extremely wealthy man… and he had a vision, a purpose for his wealth. He would construct a station in orbit above the gas giant that would become a centre of excellence in all things to do with starships and space, a place that only carefully vetted veteran spacers, scientists, and hackers would be invited to… somewhere beyond the reach of GalCop. When the mammoth undertaking was finally completed, Avernus Orbital hung majestically above the blue gas giant, which he named Lago… his love of ancient history influencing his choice of names.

Here it was, in his twilight years, that he envisaged and established the Green Knights of Lago… a hand-picked squadron of Elite combateers, flying heavily-armed ships… the fearsome Green Geckos, which are reputed to mount double-barrelled military lasers. Their sole mission… to find and challenge other highly-ranked pilots in single-combat, to test their mettle, to closely examine whether they are truly worthy of their rank. Originally based on Avernus Orbital, these ships also became the Lago defence force, in case any pilot should be so utterly foolhardy as to attack the orbital, or to repel attacks by Thargoid warships… who have now learnt to leave Avernus Orbital well alone!

The Green Gecko will only appear very rarely… but it is out there… and it is hunting you!
Overview
The OXP adds seven ships from Star Wars to the Ooniverse. From the Rebel side: the A-Wing, B-Wing, X-Wing and Y-Wing. On the Imperial side the Tie-Fighter, Tie-Interceptor and Lambda Shuttle are added.

The ships are available to the player and NPCs alike. The rebel ships are mainly seen in the hands of pirates or occasionally bounty hunters. The Lambda Shuttle is pretty much exclusively used by traders. GalCop occasionally use Tie Fighters and Tie Interceptors to support Viper police patrols, but pirates also use them as escorts. Fortunately your IFF will identify who is flying the ship.

Known Issues
* The Lambda Shuttle is too big for standard docking ports, so docking and launching by NPCs will look buggy. Future Oolite versions (beyond 1.74.2) will make it impossible for such ships to dock or launch from a standard station.
* The Lambda Shuttle specifies an obsolete shuttle AI which creates error entries in Oolite's log. Functionality is not affected though.
Very little is known about the origin of these ships. A wide accepted theory link this design with some of the icons of a minority religious movement that rates the shape as "imperial".

However, no known imperial shipyard ever stepped forward to claim the paternity of this design.

It is a combat ship, and a damn good one despite relying on a single forward military grade laser. Small enought to pass unharmed amid the beams of a Rattle Cutter four-laser volley, fast enought to catch most preys and evade most pursuers, with shields meant to withstand heavy punishment.

Some wonder why the Gal Cop has not replaced the Viper class fighter with TIEs, but the most credited answer is that "No Gal Cop pilot will ever accept to stay cramped into an exotic soda can".

The complete lack of cargo leaves this ship relegated to escort duties, with the exception of some, possibly insane, bounty hunters.
Overview
The Worm is a short-range craft. It is mainly seen travelling between the planet and an orbital space station, and only occasionally seen outside of the space station's orbit. The Worm can also be carried by other craft, such as the giant Anaconda or Boa.

Notable features
The Worm is an inexpensive and adaptable craft - it can be outfitted for passenger transport, mining or as a lifeboat. It is usually unarmed and has only the shields necessary to protect it from minor collisions with micrometeorites. It can be modified to carry a small pulse (or mining) laser, but this option is rarely exercised as the ship simply isn't built for combat, and the laser would not be much help against even the most feeble attack.

It is rumoured that the thieves of the prototype Constrictor used a Worm disguised as a naval executive shuttle to sneak into a military compound on Reesdice. The Constrictor hasn't been seen since.
Carrier of the People
Big, blocky, unlovely. These are all words used by observers who live outside the Communist States to describe the Worker's Commuters. Large, cost-effective, efficient. These are the words used by the Communist Commissars in response to the dissenters obviously commercialistically-corrupted arguments. The Worker's Commuters are immense transport ships designed to carry hundreds of Communist citizens between their home planets and the extra-planetary stations where they work for the greater glory of the People.

As common in Communist Systems as they are unknown beyond them, these vessels are built around a massive open cargo bay with floor upon floor of metal benches for the citizens to sit on. The rudimentary drive section occupies a tiny part of the aft section, while the pilot and ancilliary crew control the ship from a tiny 'bubble' cockpit at the front of the transporter. There is nothing that could be considered as luxurious in these vessels, even the life support systems are the bare minimum required to maintain the lives of the passengers.

However, it is this minimalistic approach that makes the Commuter attractive to Party officials. The cost to build a single Commuter is the same as a much smaller and less efficient Python Trader. With a tiny engine comes a tiny powerplant, so the Commuter is almost utterly defenseless, with no capacity to mount a laser, let alone any missiles or shield enhancements. But again the Commissariate reason that a Commuter has no need to defend itself with the ever-vigilant People's Police and Thought Police Rays protecting the spacelanes from the Enemies of Communism.

It is not known who designed the Commuter, but its prevalence in the many hundreds of Communist-controlled systems is by virtue of the Comoonin, a covert Galaxy-spanning intelligence agency who work to further the Communist cause by supporting Communist sentiments in other systems' Governments (especially Anarchies and Feudals) and sharing technology between technically advanced Commie States and those that are still considered low-tech.
WonderWorm/Time Raiders

Overview
A new and very different crimewave hits GalCop space. Criminals start to appear through a temporal wormhole from the 39th Century, bringing their advanced technology with them to plunder the past.

By using subspace portal technology these Time Raiders can build incredible spaceships. The bulk of the ship exists in subspace, and is accessed via a small vessel in normal space. The small vessel houses the subspace portal unit which in effect makes it the hull of the larger ship. In practice the ship is up to one hundred times bigger inside than it looks on the outside.

The Time Raider's ship of choice is the humble Worm, as they are cheap and easy to come by, attract little attention, and if things do go wrong, they make a small, difficult target.

Although outwardly tiny these Time Raider ships are awesomely powerful, with massive energy reserves and powerful shields. They are very well armed with powerful laser arrays and are normally fitted with several plasma turrets. Their future technology also allows them to remotely detect and disable virtually every WMD known in GalCop space. They are all but indestructible.

Inevitably a rare few of these ships are recovered, either when the Time Raider is apprehended or killed, or as a result of some accident or mishap. GalCop immediately requisition these ships if one is found or recovered, and strips them of much of the technology which is then sent to GalCop research facilities for further study. However as GalCop are expected to cover their costs overall, the ships are then sold on through a handful of approved secure traders on TL 14 and 15 worlds.

Sold as the WonderWorm, these vessels may not have all the features of the original ship. In particular the advanced lasers and high-tech remote weapons disabling equipment will have been removed, as would any cloak or jammer that was originally fitted. Although in its infancy the subspace technology is known, so for practical reasons these vessels are permitted to retain their subspace features for retail sale. They are priced at 2.5 million Credits but you do get a lot for your money. Standard equipment includes Fore and Aft Military lasers, a Naval Energy Unit, Military Shielding, Fuel Injection and ECM, and an Advanced Space Compass with Multi-targeting system. These ships also have a custom HUD, an adaptation of the standard HUD which is optimised for combat situations and also has re-positioned console and comms messages. All other equipment options are available.
Overview
An unlikely sighting in poor and hazardous systems, this large mass of metal that is the Woma Fuel Transport Service moves a great deal of Quirium between systems of commerce, keeping stations in constant supply. Completing this task is usually done at notoriously slow pace as these are some of the most sluggish movers in populated space, and Woma pilots do not get paid by the hour.

Security
As pirates consider them an awkward beast, providing for Woma protection has
been something of a dilemma for FuelCorp. Since they will never be found
transporting anything of value other than the two silos containing fuel, which
may only be accessed with the apropriate, exclusive machinery, it is practically
a rule among pirates to ignore them.

Considering this they are surprisingly often prone to vicious and futile, fatal
attacks. This is presumably carried out by vandals who do it just to see a big explosion.
Any other motive is hard to imagine.

Having counted the costs of years of indecision, FuelCorp has recently swallowed the
bitter pill, and has upped the level of protection with a fleet of dedicated
Sidewinder escorts.
Overview
Venomous, fortified, durable, and formidable in battle, the mere mention of the name Wolf Mk.II may be sufficient to give experienced pilots the shakes. As they are hugely expensive and demanding to maneuver, it is given that the pilot who commands a Wolf has earned the right to do so.

Scandalous Origins
Once believed to be an extinct craft, or even by some the stuff of myths, the Wolf Mk.I was notorious for its hard shell, and its bite. The designs of this rare ship were thought to have been lost, but were eventually, at some expense, recovered by the Military who saw a great appeal in applying these characteristics to craft in their fleet. The contract was commissioned to the relatively unknown shipyards of Amaliel Corp. for a new ship modified to cater for military needs. Thus the Wolf Mk.II was born.

The events that followed were uncharacteristic of Military history, and much of the factual evidence was later suppressed. It was the Military leadership's intention not to distribute this new ship across the fleet, but to exclusively train the Military's top pilots to form "Wolf Paragon Squadrons". The leadership did not fail in selecting their very most skillful.

There is no denying there were mistakes made during the selections, however. The Paragon squads had barely been instated by the time the first reports of desertion reached High Command. Mass-desertion had soon spread to mad proportions, and it became apparent that shamefully many of "the Military's finest" were unable to resist the temptations that came with commanding such a superior craft, confronted with relatively feeble resistance. Shockingly large numbers of officers had conspired to form rogue gangs, and went on to exploit this newfound power with little inhibition.

The response from High Command was urgent but would disguise none of the inflicted embarassment. The Paragon Squads were instantly disbanded, and all deserters declared priority outlaws, subject to immediate extermination. The minority of the pilots, those who had stayed loyal to the military cause, were quietly promoted into positions of relative obscurity, and the Amaliel Corp. contract was swiftly cancelled. This resulted in a judicial stink that would not go away despite heavy Military pressure on Amaliel to forget that any deal had ever been made, but in the end the shipbuilders' resistance paid off. As illegal models began to appear, the Military leadership realized that desperate attempts to contain the fiasco were futile, and moved to minimize their losses. In an agreement that saw the Military join Amaliel as partners in private enterprise, the Wolf Mk.II would finally be available for sale on the open market.

Aftermath
As the Military came to approach the problems in a more constructive manner, its Propaganda Dept. saw no harm in spreading disinformation concerning the Wolf Mk.II's origins. Several rumours, among them the Wolf's alleged basis in Thargoid technology, never hurt sales and brought focus to the all-important war effort. However, these attempts to blur the truth are swallowed only by the most gullible.
Overview
Originally known as Faulcon Manspace and based in Reorte, Faulcon de Lacy won the contract to design a police ship, and created the Viper, which was to earn the company a large amount of money. The next few years saw a remarkable series of mergers and acquisitions which enabled them to become one of the biggest corporations around. Their recent replacement for the now aging Viper, the Viper Interceptor, could be a big earner.
Overview
The distinctive arrowhead shape of the Viper patrol craft is a frequent sight around all space stations, even in the most dangerous systems with the most poorly funded police forces. A small, nimble craft optimized for routine GalCop police patrols, it is a shape that can strike fear into the hearts of smugglers and pirates. The ship is typically single-crew, but for special purposes can carry up to 10 (mostly for boarding and sting raids against smugglers).

Notable Features
The Viper is an old design, having first rolled out from Faulcon Manspace Reorte in 2762. However, it is one of those designs that was just right, hence its longevity. Although the original design is relatively slow and the shielding/hull strength a little on the weak side to take on ships such as the fearsome Rattle Cutter, it still performs admirably as a local patrol craft for station defence and anti-smuggling inspections.

A standard fitting is a row of magenta and blue strobe lights, which the crew will illuminate when actively pursuing another craft, or signalling it to stop. All too many commanders try and run when they see the flashing lights - but this usually elicits death by laser from the Viper.

A few older Vipers have appeared on the civilian markets, sold as the Renegade Viper. Sales were halted when it became clear that the ship was popular as an inexpensive pirate fighter since a trader would normally not pay much attention to a Viper, believing it to be a Police vessel. If the craft was a Renegade piloted by a pirate, this usually was the last action of the said trader.

Variants
The Viper Interceptor is Faulcon_de_Lacy's recent replacement for the aging Viper.
The Velocity

These craft are Performance Hulls' first entry into the market and consist of three ships based on the same hull design but of varying sizes and capabilities:

Velocity 150: The V150 is designed as a multi-role craft that can be used for small scale trading and is excellent in combat. It is available as a player craft and can be extensively upgraded with a range of equipment. The V150 in an ideal replacement to the Cobra Mk3 or similar vessels, if you want something a little faster and more manoeuvrable. It has a maximum of 18 tonnes of cargo space with a large cargo bay fitted.

Velocity 170: This is based on the same hull as the 150 model but has only 3 tonnes of cargo capacity. It, however, is somewhat armed to the teeth as standard and has two small Velocity 96’s docked on to the top of the hull. This craft is designed for very rich business people so that they can travel around the Ooniverse in relative safety without the need of a larger craft that requires escorts. Only the foolhardy would attack a V170.

Velocity 96: The V96 isn’t available as a stand-alone craft and is only fitted to its big brother, the V170. These craft are used as escape vessels instead of a standard escape pod. They are lightly armed, but are very fast and manoeuvrable and are always fitted with fuel injectors. It is rumoured that one of them is a small remote decoy craft that is used to ram attackers.
Overview
The Tiger Mk I was originally intended as a replacement for the Asp Mk II. Whilst the Asp remains today one of the most powerful fighters in GalCop space, features of its design, such as its solitary missile pylon show its age. In 3093, the Galactic Navy began tendering for bids to build a replacement vessel, eventually awarding the contract to Cyber Systems Inc of Orzaedve.

The Navy demanded a ship that retained the Asp’s speed and combat performance, but could carry sufficient hardened missiles to successfully engage Thargoid invasion fleets and also function as a supply vessel.

Cyber Systems Inc were known for their meticulous design principles. Project manager, Dr Zimire Ja Norin was not to be rushed, refusing to release even a prototype version until all systems met his exacting standards. Such was the good Doctor’s perfectionism, it is rumoured that on one occasion in 3095 he ordered a fully functional prototype destroyed, when he discovered his technicians had skimped by using imitation leather rather than hand-stitched genuine Orreedonian deadly goat skin to cover the Command Chair. As a result of such painstaking attention to build quality, by 3098, only a small fleet of prototypes were ready, with a projected unit cost of more than 700,000 Credits.

The Navy bean-counters started to grow concerned at the spiraling development costs of the Tiger, estimated at over ten billion credits. GalCop’s continued funding of the project came under attack in the 3098 editions of “Which Spaceship?”. A series of critical articles beginning with “New Navy Vessel delayed again. Tiger or White Elephant?” and culminating in “Dr Zimire Ja Norin – Slowest designer in history?” caused the top brass serious embarrassment. Navy tacticians considered that the role proposed for the Tiger had largely been assumed by the Behemoth. As a result the project was cancelled, leaving Cyber Systems with a handful of prototype Tigers in their development hangars. Facing financial ruin, the Company sold off their prototypes to the highest bidder at auction.

Notable features
Although the Tiger never made it beyond the prototype stage, most Commanders who have had the good fortune to fly a Tiger agree that it is an awesome multi-role craft. It equals the maneuverability of the Asp, whilst exceeding its performance in speed. Six missile pylons and the ability to mount all commonly available equipment make the Tiger a fearsome combat craft. Its fifty ton cargo bay also makes it ideal as a trade ship or the leader of a pirate fleet.

Not all are impressed however with the Tiger. Whilst even its critics acknowledge the ship’s speed and cargo advantage over the Asp, they point to the ships wide profile as a major design fault, making the ship almost impossible to miss at close range. They also point to the fact that for the price of a single Tiger, five Iron Ass configured Cobra Mk IIIs could be purchased.

Availability
The Tiger is a very rare craft, Cyber Systems Inc only making one production run before the design was scrapped. Tigers do however come up for sale occasionally in the Shipyards of very advanced systems. Commanders should expect to pay in excess of 730,000 credits for the basic model equipped only with fuel scoops and a foward mounted military laser. A fully equipped Tiger could easily set a Commander back almost one million credits. Ownership of a Tiger is therefore exclusive. Pirates flying Tigers should be treated with respect. Any pirate rich enough to buy a Tiger in the first place, should be considered very dangerous and likely to have equipped it as an Iron Ass.
Overview
Very little is known about the origin of this ships.

Overview
Only a bounty hunter with an iron ass or a well equipped military vessel ever welcomes the sight of the Thargoid Warship. There have been no known peaceful interactions with one of these ships; they always attack human vessels on sight. Their distinctive octagonal shape is easy to visually identify from long ranges. The alternating red/blue colour scheme is thought to indicate the ship's flight - there have been a few sightings of different colour schemes. The Thargoids have attempted to understand human language, but it is clear that they have some way to go - confused commanders have reported receiving messages such as "Eat violent sitcoms, poet!" and "Why did the groigan dance?".

Although most human vessels equipped for combat can survive an attack from a lone Thargoid warship, this was not the case when the Thargoids were first seen; in that era, typically the Cobra Mk.1 was the usual civilian small multipurpose vessel, which was easily destroyed by a lone Thargoid.

Notable Features
The ship is extremely manoeuvrable and fast - it pulls away from almost all human spacecraft small to large. The Thargoids do not seem satisfied with mere good handling; the ship's weaponry is also turreted and swings around in lethal arcs slicing through shields and duralium. Just when a beseiged commander thinks it can't get any worse, most Thargoid warships then begin releasing Thargons - tiny fighters equipped with a pulse laser that adds to the victim's misery. The Thargons themselves are controlled from the mothership, but don't expect the destruction of the mothership to stop their assault if there are any other Thargoid warships in the vicinity - the next warship will take control of the Thargons. It is also believed that the insectoid crew of a Thargoid warship has had their fear glands removed - the warships consistently fight to the death, and will not allow a human craft to flee.

Probably the most terrifying prospect from the point of view of traders is the Thargoid warship's ability to ambush a ship in witch space. Typically, a hyperspace ambush will involve many warships. Traders rarely live to tell the tale, and some unfortunate victims that manage to survive do not have sufficient fuel (or any means of getting sufficient fuel) to complete their hyperspace journey. If you are ambushed by a Thargoid warship in witch space, be extremely careful about using witch space fuel injectors if you have them fitted - ensure you have enough fuel to hyperspace out again.
Only a bounty hunter with an iron ass or a well equipped military vessel ever welcomes the sight of the Thargoids. There have been no known peaceful interactions with one of their ships; they always attack human vessels on sight. The characteristic octagonal symetrical shape is easy to visually identify from long ranges. The alternating red/green colour scheme is thought have cultural significance - there have been unconfirmed sightings of variations on the colour scheme. The Thargoids have attempted to understand human language, but possibly only to taunt us - confused commanders have reported receiving messages such as "Eat grub, housemaid!" and "Are you my daddy?".

Notable features
Favored Royal offspring reaching the age of ascendency are often placed in command of a Terrorizer Frigate in lieu of outright infanticide. However this often only temporarily prevents the youngling from rebelling against it's parents' pheromonal controll. Thargoid do not tolerate independent adults in their vicinity and summarilly dispatch any that are vulnerable, as a youngling in a small frigate would be.

At least that is the current exomological interpretation of the occasional sighting of other thargoid ships attacking these smaller but clearly crewed vessels. "What Ship?" magazine has opined that the 'Terroriser' class ships are the thargoid equivalent of target-drones. Using these ships in combat agains humans either signifies the thargoid lack of regard for humanity or possibly an indication that we are winning the war.
Overview
Thargoid Robot Fighters, or Thargons, are unpiloted, remote-controlled battle drones that are released by Thargoid Warships as reinforcements during a battle. Many an unfortunate pilot was struck with awe and horror when, while he desperately tried to hold up against a Thargoid Warship, he suddenly had to face six adversaries instead of only one. Not so many live to tell the tale.

Notable Features
Thargons are fast, and they almost always come in a swarm. Both of these facts make them fearsome. On top of that, each of them is equipped with a robust Pulse Laser. A lone Thargon, though, is not especially strong. The most important fact to know about Thargons is that they are remotely controlled by their mothership. When they lose the remote contact to their mothership, their AI freezes and they 'die'. However, another Thargoid Warship nearby can assume control over them instead of their original mother.

Tactical Advice for Thargoid Fighters
Usually a Thargoid Warship will release five Thargons (there have been reports about bigger Thargoid ships, that have even more Thargons aboard) when it's in distress. So for an experienced, hard ass pilot without fear, seeing Thargons is actually a good sign, showing that the main ship is running low on energy. Thargoids never back out when out of energy, but use their Thargons instead to keep their opponent busy and thus relieve the strain on their main ship.

Therefore a cold blooded pilot should never bother with the Thargons, but double his effort on the warship, knowing that it is not far from defeat. If there are no other Thargoid capital ships nearby, the Thargons will lose their remote-controlled brain as soon as their mother dies, drifting in space helplessly, becoming easy victims with no self-defense. (see also Dealing with Thargoids)

If he has reached this stage of the battle (many pilots never do, though), the victorious human may decide what to do with the Thargons. Basically he has two options: He can scoop them and sell them as Alien Items on the next market, making a nice profit. Or he can shoot them, thereby earning the 50 credits bounty GalCop has put on every Thargon and being awarded a kill for each of them, which will bring him another step closer towards becoming Elite.

Role in Thargoid research
As dead Thargons can be scooped, many of them have found their way to GalCop's research facilities, like the naval research and development complex on Ribilebi. There they are torn apart and examined carefully. It is from scrutinizing these derelict fighter drones that most of the knowledge about Thargoids and their technology actually stems from. Naturally during the research they have become the best understood part of Thargoid technology. Their energy system is fairly well understood, and can be compared to human technology, in which it would rank as having 2 energy banks, which recharge at a medium speed. Also their laser system poses no major questions to researchers. It is also well understood that the distinctive green laser colour is due to some specifications of Thargoid laser configuration.

If the scale is magnified in an appropriate way, Thargon research may also give important clues as to the composition and features of the Thargoid warships themselves. None of those has ever been examined, as Thargoids inevitably fight to death, resulting in the complete destruction of their motherships.

Thargoids are known to have their fear-glands removed hence they never retreat; they use their Thargoid Robot Fighters in combat the same way.

Remarkably, Professor Smivs of the Cucurbita claims the insectoid Thargoids have multiple genders; this conclusion presumably gleaned from research into captured Thargons by the highly advanced space-faring plantoid scientists having evolved special insight into insectoid physiology. It is hoped the Cucurbitaceae may make further advances in this area.

Unfortunately, though, all this research on Thargons has not yet lead to any ground-breaking revelations about the most feared - and at the same time most coveted by the Galactic Navy - feature of Thargoid warships, their self-aiming laser turret. As Thargons employ only a quite ordinary pulse laser, pretty similar to those used by most human ships, nothing about the intricate aiming mechanism of the laser turret can be deduced from probing Thargons.

The propulsion of Thargons and other Thargoid ships remains another unsolved mystery. Every pilot who has ever encountered Thargoids knows that they have no exhaust plume whatsoever, and it is indeed almost impossible for a human to tell the front from the rear side of a Thargoid warship, only their movement indicating which is which. Scientists can tell that the propulsion- and fuel-technology employed by the Thargoids are advanced well above any human equivalent. But this is already the bottom line. The precise way the propulsion system works remains as much an enigma as the exact nature of the fuel used.
The Tesoura is a rugged, heavy-duty ship built by Saeder-Krupp Industries. It's a trading ship that stays manoeuvrable (albeit very slow) despite having a big hull. Its outstanding form and the blue shades of paint make it a real looker.

The ship is available to both the player and NPCs, normally found in the hands of traders.
